Take care of your body, it’s the only place you have to live.

Welcome Friends

My name is Vickie and I am a licensed therapist, certified health & wellness coach, and most importantly a mama to two little ones (Jackson & Sage).

I have made it my life work to walk along side women who are looking forward to entering motherhood or who have already been navigating this chapter of their life. I want to walk with you & help you find the ability to blend all the different roles you hold (mom, wife, daughter, friend, career woman, chef, chaperone, housekeeper, and so much more).

By focusing on you, we not only address your mental & emotional health, but your WHOLE person health.

Sometimes finding balance can feel impossible, so lets ditch that narrative & blend all the areas that are vital to you feeling calm, nourished, and well.

Early Days

A little bit about my story & why I am passionate about the work that I do.

I am a mom to two of the biggest gifts this life could’ve given me & my husband (Jackson, 2.5 and Sage 6.5 months old), I am a wife, a therapist & health and wellness coach.

While, I haven't always had these roles. I feel like everything I have gone through in life has prepared me to be here. To be present with my family and to use my passions to be here for YOU, providing you with the support, advocacy, and empowerment that you need.

Where it all began. I have always had a passion for working with people. As an undergraduate psychology major, a background of over 8 years in applied behavior analysis, a masters in management & organizational behavior and in social work, with certificates in health and wellness (from nutrition to gut health, whole person health, and low-toxic living) I can say that living and breathing all things health has become a major passion of mine.

I would say the journey getting here hasn’t always been linear. I started off my career out of college working in the field of Human Resources, while also doing behavioral therapy with children, then moving into a career in medical social work (working in various settings from skilled nursing facilities, acute rehabilitation centers, to the hospital setting), and now most recently private practice and starting up this little space, Simply Real Motherhood.

Although I have always been passionate about working with people, like you, I have faced my own struggles & challenges. As a recovering perfectionist, someone who has dealt with anxiety and depression, numbing difficult circumstances through the use of unhealthy coping strategies (hello college), faced numerous major health challenges with my own parents as a young adult, I can say all of these events have truly been impactful to me and the way I now view my health & life.

I look at these challenges as stones that I won’t allow keeping me stuck, instead I choose to view them as my greatest teachers. I don’t want to waste the lessons of these hardships, because in all cases there are lessons to be learned. Let’s not move on & forget about these things, but instead, let’s move WITH, let’s pick them up, get stronger & more resilient because of the things you’ve been through. Let’s appreciate where you have come from and where you are and where you still want to go.

Enter Motherhood

Back in 2020, during the height of COVID, as I transitioned into my new role of mom the things that I felt like I had been working on for so long were creeping back in. Not only was I now anxious about my newborns health (concerns on an ultrasound), if I was doing everything “right,” feeling like I was exhausted, hormonal, and an anxious mess.

After my maternity leave, the world was still shut down and I returned to the hospital where my anxiety continued to rear its ugly head. Worried whether I would get my baby or family sick, I felt all of the things rise to the surface.

With time, I chose to slow down. I chose to reassess & realign with my values and what I found important. I rolled up my sleeves again and did the work.

All this to say that when we pause long enough, begin to prioritize ourselves, we can begin to see the big picture. We can learn to value the little things in life. Because guess what when we do this, we can appreciate the little things. Then the stuff that keeps you stuck & stressed (hello piles of laundry, temper tantrums & mile long to do lists), then these things begin to matter so much less.

If you are tired of putting yourself last, let’s re-prioriotize and put you back on your own to do list.

If your goal is to begin enjoying this phase of motherhood and to feel healthy & well inside and out, then let’s sit together and let’s show you how.

You can still meet all of your demands, but you can take care of yourself too.

Come, sit, let’s chat a while.

Your friend, therapist, and biggest cheerleader,

Vickie
